iPhone Tops In Smartphone Ads

Apple's iPhone with its iOS platform pulled 55 percent of the smartphone ad requests for the month of July, according to Millennial Media's Mobile Mix report.

The report also said that Android surpassed RIM to capture the number two spot with 19 percent of all mobile ad requests, and the Google's operating platform witnessed a massive surge of 690 percent in mobile ad requests since the beginning of the year.

Meanwhile, Windows Mobile, webOS, and other platforms continue to only account for a very small percentage of Millennial's ad traffic, the report said.

Connected devices, including like the iPad,iPod touch and Nintendo DSi, are accounted for 19 percent of ad requests.

Data for the whole year isn't available, but Millennial said that the iPad experienced a 327 percent growth in ad requests just since June, and with several Android-based tablets expected to launch later this year, connected devices will be an important space to watch.
