A survey of 100 hackers who attended the Defcon hacking conference last month in Las Vegas, Nevada indicated that cloud computing software is the most vulnerable to hackers in the web environment.

The survey sponsored by security vendor Fortify Software asked hackers about security in the cloud and 21 percent of respondents said software as a service (SaaS) cloud systems are the most vulnerable to hacking.

There are other vulnerabilities. Thirty-three percent of respondents said it is the public DNS or domain name system, 16 percent said it is the log files and 12 percent said it is the communications profiles.

Almost all respondents or 96 percent said cloud computing is a new hacking frontier with 45 percent admitting they have attempted to exploit its vulnerabilities.
