Owing to huge demand for its tablet PC, iPad customers had to wait for at least five to seven days before they could get the device shipped after placing an order.

The company, which also makes music system iPod and smartphone iPhone, had clocked record sales of 1.7 million units of its iPad in just three days and has now sold more than 3.27 million units of the tablet PC in three months.

Meanwhile, media reports say Samsung is revving up to take on Apple’s rumored upcoming 7-inch iPad named ‘nano’ with its own tablet version named ‘Galaxy Tab’ in September.

Samsung has skipped its earlier plan of launching a 10-inch tablet to compete with Apple’s 9.7-inch iPad and is now planning to unveil the 7-inch tablet ‘Galaxy Tab’, which will run on the Android 2.2 operating system boasting of an in-house developed processor.

Meanwhile, market research firm iSuppli said Apple’s iPad will remain unchallenged and stay in demand until 2012.

The report said no company has been able to match iPad’s popularity so far and that none will be able to compete against it for some years to come.

iSuppli has predicted that iPad will account for 74.1 percent of the total sales of tablet PCs by 2010, 70.4 percent by 2011 and 61.7 percent by 2012.
