Nadal’s quest for U.S. Open begins

The U.S. Open title is missing from Rafael Nadal's career so far. Needing this one badly to complete a career set of grand-slam titles, the relaxed Spaniard however says that he will never allow it to become an obsession.

The 24-year-old world number one has already grabbed Wimbledon and French Open this year. The U.S. Open is the final grand-slam event of this year.

In the U.S. Open tournaments that Nadal has played so far, he has not gone beyond the semi-finals. Not perturbed by this fact, Nadal said that he was already more than content with a career that has yielded eight grand-slam victories.

"I am more than happy with what I have at home, all the tournaments that I have won. It is more than I dreamt five or six years ago, so I am happy for that," he told reporters in New York.

Injuries and the fast conditions at the U.S. Open that reduces some of the effect of Nadal's topspin may have contributed to his not winning the title till date.
