GM's Shanghai sales up 57 pct in first 8 months

Shanghai General Motors saw its auto sales rise 57 percent  to 641,351 units in the first eight months of2010, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

The auto sales reached 81,067 units in August, said Shanghai GM,  the joint venture of General Motors Co. with SAIC Motor Corp in China.

The August sales of  Buick, Chevrolet and Cadillac models totaled 45,688 , 33,755 and 1,624 respectively.

The eight-month sales of Buick, Chevrolet and Cadillac models were up 27 percent, 114 percent and 157 percent over same period last year.
