Suzlon wins 30 MW order from Altrade

Suzlon Energy Limited, India's largest wind turbine manufacturer, said on Friday that it has won a 30 MW order from Altrade Group through its two group companies Tarini Minerals Private Limited and Indrani Patnaik.

Suzlon will set up, operate and maintain the project to be installed at wind farms in the Jaisalmer and Jodhpur districts of Rajasthan. The project will comprise of 20 units of Suzlon's S82 1.5 MW wind turbine generators and will be commissioned by January 2011.

Orissa-based Altrade Group focuses primarily on the iron ore mining industry and is further diversifying into the real estate and hospitality sectors. This project is the Group's maiden venture into wind energy, and once completed will generate enough electricity to power over 6,000 households. The Group also has plans to register the projects under the clean development mechanism.

The project will extend Suzlon's leadership of the Rajasthan wind market taking the total installed base to over 700 MW.

The Suzlon has installed base of more than 5,000 MW in India with over 40 sites across eight states, and a customer portfolio that captures the leaders of the Indian Industry. In Rajasthan alone, Suzlon has an installed base of over 600 MW.

The Suzlon's shares are currently trading down by 2.43 percent at 50.10 rupees, while the BSE Sensex was up 0.12 percent at 18,260.46.
