Tsunami alert lifted after strong quake off Japan

A Tsunami warning was cancelled early Saturday after a strong 7.0 earthquake hit off the coast of southern Japan.

The Japan Meteorological Agency cancelled an advisory at 7 a.m. local time after a quake hit Okinawa at 5:31 a.m. (3:31 p.m. ET).

There were no reports of major damage, according to Reuters.

The quake was located 50 miles (75km) East-South-East of Naha, the capital of Okinawa prefecture, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It's depth was 13.7 miles (22km).
