Video game developer Ubisoft expects to launch the historical action-adventure game “Assassin’s Creed: Unity” for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Oct. 28, and the Montreuil, France-based developer is working hard to ensure the PC version will launch on time.

PC release dates for previous installments in the “Assassin’s Creed” series have often been delayed, including 2013’s “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag,” which came to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U last Oct. 29. The PC version wasn’t available until Nov. 19.

“We’re always aiming to ship all our games on all platforms at the same time,” Ubisoft Toronto producer Lesley Phord-Toy told Rock Paper Shotgun. “I don’t have any specific news on the PC version of 'Assassin’s Creed Unity,' but I do know we’re planning on shipping on all three [platforms]: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. I haven’t heard any news differently than that.”

“It can be challenging,” she added. “PC has a variety of different hardware configurations that you can’t necessarily predict. On a console you know what’s in the box. Every customer has the same configuration for the most part, and first-parties push firmware updates, so everyone has what you’re expecting to have. PCs are nowhere near as consistent. So it can be extremely challenging to try and support as many of those permutations as possible.”

Waiting a few extra weeks for the title to launch on PC won’t kill anyone, but many PC gamers are hoping “Assassin’s Creed: Unity” will launch in a timely manner.

“Like I said, Ubi has been very successful at achieving same-ship in the recent past, so we’re very confident that we’ll be able to do the same for 'Assassin’s Creed Unity,'” Phord-Toy said.
