One person was killed in an officer-involved shooting near Aloft hotel in Atlanta, Georgia, Monday night. The incident took place on Ted Turner Boulevard near Baker Street during a routine traffic stop, Atlanta police reportedly said.

Authorities reportedly said that officers attempted to pull over a car but the driver didn’t stop. Police began a pursuit for the vehicle, which stopped after it hit a hotel shuttle bus, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC), a local news outlet, reported.

The driver of the vehicle surrendered but the passenger fled behind the Aloft hotel, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. The passenger was reportedly killed in the shooting.

“Gun shots were coming from every angle,” Bryceton O’Neal told the AJC. “Cops were running behind cars, taking cover.”

According to local reports, police recovered three weapons from the scene and also found a bag containing marijuana in the car.

The Aloft hotel issued a statement top NBC News saying that the incident did not involve any of its guests, according to USA Today. "It was apparently the result of a police chase that ended nearby," the statement reportedly said.
