FRANKFURT - Volkswagen unit Audi is set to achieve its target of delivering about 900,000 vehicles for 2009 despite tough market conditions, Audi said on Friday.

Global sales reached 705,300 cars from January through September, down 7.5 percent, after sales in September alone slipped 6.8 percent to around 88,600 vehicles, it said.

Rival BMW, the world's biggest premium carmaker, saw September group vehicle sales edge up 0.7 percent, while sales at Daimler's premium Mercedes-Benz Cars division fell 7 percent.
