RTTNews - Wednesday, a report by the Australian Bureau of Statistics said the total value of housing finance commitments, excluding alterations, rose a seasonally adjusted 3.6% month-on-month in April to A$21.5 billion.

Investment housing commitments rose 8.9%, while owner occupied housing commitments increased 1.9% in April.

Meanwhile, on the basis of the unadjusted series, the the number of first home buyer commitments as a percentage of total owner occupied housing finance commitments, rose further to 28% in April from 27.3% in the preceding month. The number of fixed rate loan commitments as a percentage of total owner occupied housing finance commitments increased to 4.2% from 2.4% in March.
