RTTNews - The number of job vacancies for skilled workers in Australia declined in May by 7.0 percent from April.

The Australian Department of Employment and Workplace Relations reported Wednesday that the index stands at 35.1, and represented a 62.6 percent decline in skilled vacancies compared to a year earlier.

For the first time, the May index includes internet vacancies, based on openings posted in a series of online recruiting sites.

Decreases were recorded in 16 of the 18 occupational groups surveyed.

All Australian states and territories showed declines in skilled worker vacancies compared to April.
