The Australian dollar rose to a 6-day high of 0.7004 against the US dollar and a 2-day high of 69.12 versus the Japanese yen in early Asian trading on Thursday. The aussie closed Wednesday's North American deals at 0.6995 against the buck and 68.93 versus the yen and the next upside target levels are likely to be 0.707 and 69.50, respectively.

Investors are now looking forward to Australia's February trade balance figures, which will be released shortly. Analysts expect the trade surplus to fall to A$700 million from A$970 million surplus in January.
