Australia's short-term tourist arrivals rose 5.9% month-on-month in February, on a seasonally adjusted basis, following a 3.2% decline in January, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said Monday.

Tourist arrivals increased to 477,200 in February from 450,500 in the previous month. On the basis of the original estimates, the tourist arrivals totaled 504,000 in February.

Meanwhile, the short-term departures by the residents increased a seasonally adjusted 3.2% in February, after a 5.7% fall in the previous month. The short-term departures increased to 477,100 from 462,200 in January. Based on original estimates, tourist departures made by residents totaled 363,100.
