RTTNews - Australia's merchandise imports dropped 6.2% month-on-month in April, after a 4.7% rise in March, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said Wednesday. Imports declined to A$16,228 million from a revised A$17,314 million in March.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, imports fell 2% to A$17,269 million in April from A$17,657 million in March.

In April, import of capital as also consumption goods slipped 1% each, while import of other goods dropped 35%. However, import of intermediate and other merchandise goods rose 2%.
