RTTNews - Total credit provided to the private sector in Australia was up 0.2 percent in July 2009, the Reserve Bank of Australia said on Monday, exactly in line with expectations following an increase of 0.1 percent in June.

On an annual basis, private sector credit climbed 3.0 percent - again matching forecasts after the 3.4 percent increase in June.

Housing credit increased 0.6 percent in July, following an increase of 0.6 percent in June. On year, housing credit rose 7.3 percent.

Personal credit declined 0.2 percent in July, following a fall of 0.3 percent in June. On year, personal credit fell 6.4 percent.

Business credit declined 0.3 percent in July, following a fall of 0.6 percent over June. On year, business credit declined 0.7 percent.
