RTTNews - In Australia, the sale of new motor vehicles rose a seasonally adjusted 5.4% month-on-month in May to 75,472, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said Monday.
During the month, sale of sports utility vehicles rose 6.4%, while sales of passenger vehicles increased 2.9%. Sale of other vehicles were up 11.3%.
Among the regions, sales increased the most by 9.6% in Victoria, followed by a 7.4% rise in Southern Australia. Most other regions showed an increase, with the Australian Capital Territory being the only region to show a decline of 2.4%.
Year-on-year, the sale of new motor vehicles were down 12.6% in May, reflecting double-digit declines from most regions.
