Jamie Showkeir is a founding partner of henning-showkeir & associates, inc.

For nearly three decades, Jamie has been helping individuals and organizations improve business results while creating workplaces where people can find meaning and purpose. His work is grounded in the belief that individual choice must be authentically engaged for organizations to successfully create cultures of accountability. In his consulting career, Jamie has advised hundreds of public and private sector organizations—from Global 1000 companies to entrepreneurial and non-profit enterprises—and aided in strengthening their results by distributing organizational power and influence. He also coaches internal and external business consultants, assisting in defining and developing their work.

Jamie is co-author with Maren Showkeir of Authentic Conversations: Moving from Manipulation to Truth and Commitment (Berrett-Koehler, 2008). A critically acclaimed business book, Authentic Conversations challenges conventional wisdom on key business and workplace practices and presents concrete new ways to consciously make ordinary conversations the primary driver of workplace change. He also serves on the board of directors of the Berrett-Koehler Authors Cooperative.

A sought-after thought leader and media source, Jamie has appeared in dozens of leading print and online publications, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Daily, Huffington Post, and CNNMoney.

Jamie earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial and business education from Miami University, where he was a scholarship athlete, and a master’s degree in educational leadership at Eastern Michigan University.

A onetime century cyclist, Jamie enjoys cycling, traveling, reading, yoga and music. He and his wife and business partner, Maren, live in Phoenix, Arizona.

Drawing on more than 25 years of experience in managing, training and teaching individuals and work teams, Maren advises organizations of all types and sizes in increasing business results by creating cultures of accountability. She is widely known and respected for her expertise in navigating global and multicultural work environments and believes that any enterprise can achieve success when it authentically engages its people.

Maren spent the first part of her career as a journalist, working as a reporter, editor and senior manager in newsrooms at leading major dailies in Arizona and Florida. Serving as a two-time Knight Fellow for the International Center for Journalists, she also taught senior-level journalism classes at private universities in Argentina and Peru, and joined local journalists there in developing and leading workshops for journalists in provinces with limited opportunities for formal training.

Co-author with Jamie Showkeir of Authentic Conversations: Moving from Manipulation to Truth and Commitment (Berrett-Koehler, 2008), Maren is a skilled and popular media source, having appeared in newspapers, magazines, and Web sites, such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Daily, Women for Hire, and Leader to Leader Journal.

Maren graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She’s currently attending Fielding Graduate University where she’ll earn a master’s degree in Human & Organization Development in 2010. She also is fluent in Spanish.

Maren is also a certified yoga instructor, and enjoys traveling, reading, cooking and music. Maren and her husband, Jamie, live in Phoenix, Arizona. Together they have four children and one grandchild.
