If you think “Captain America: Civil War” has a long roster of superheroes, just wait for “Avengers: Infinity War.” The two-part story will be released in 2018 and 2019, but directors Joe and Anthony Russo already have a plan. They even confirmed which “Guardians of the Galaxy” character will join the cast.

The directors were asked which characters they were most excited to show in “Infinity War,” and that’s when Anthony revealed the news. “The movies are intended to be a culmination of everything that’s happened before in the MCU [Marvel Cinematic Universe], so you don’t want to get into spoilers, but I’m a big fan of what [‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ director] James Gunn has done. We are both big fans of what James Gunn has done. Star-Lord is a fantastic character, and Chris Pratt is an awesome performer, so you’d be very excited,” he told ComicBook.com.

No details about Star-Lord’s part in “Avengers: Infinity War” have been revealed. However, Pratt has previously said that he doesn’t want to go to Earth to meet up with the other Marvel heroes. “I think like the universe itself it’s best to expand outward,” the “Jurassic Park” actor told IGN last year. “I don’t personally — and it’s not up to me, I’ll do whatever they want me to do — I don’t want to see the Guardians defend Cleveland, Ohio. We’re cosmic, man. I want to be in space.”

Pratt is currently filming “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” and there is a chance that some of his other co-stars could join him. After all, this is being discussed as the biggest superhero team-up yet.

“We have so many characters we’re dealing with,” Joe told audiences at Wizard World New Orleans (via ComicBookMovie) in January. “We’re breaking ground on ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’ We have a board with 67 characters on it.”

Audiences shouldn’t expect any “Avengers: Infinity War” hints in the second “Guardians” film, which is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2017. As previously reported, Gunn told a fan during a Facebook Q&A in October that the film is “not about leading up to anything else. It’s about the Guardians and their lives.”

“Avengers: Infinity War — Part I” will be released on May 4, 2018, and “Part II” will hit the big screen on May 3, 2019.
