“The Bachelor” and “diarrhea” seem to go hand-in-hand based on contestant bios for Season 19 of the ABC reality show. Although the new season, starring Chris Soules, hasn’t started yet, a big joke surrounding the show is that a number of the cast members have a similar date fear – “diarrhea.” Think we’re exaggerating? Guess again. Jimmy Kimmel even played a game on his ABC late-night show to poke fun at the “strange common thread.”

“Under the heading ‘Biggest Date Fear’, a surprising number of the women chose diarrhea as their biggest date fear,” the host informed the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” audience. “A bunch of them wrote ‘diarrhea.’ A few of the others wrote ‘silence.’ So I thought it would be fun to play a guessing game – Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to put your intuition to the test. It’s time to play: ‘Diarrhea or silence?’”

Diarrhea is definitely a reasonable fear … but odd unless your date nights are always held at an ethnic restaurant. So, why are five out of the 30 women coming clean about their phobia? It may have something to do with the bachelor himself.

While appearing on Andi Dorfman’s season of “The Bachelorette” over the summer, the then-32-year-old farmer revealed in his contestant bio that his biggest date fear is “accidental diarrhea.” Fans of “The Bachelor” know that the women on the show will go out of their way to make sure they have a connection with Chris … so could their common fear of “diarrhea” be part of their tactic to win his heart? It very well might be. During the season premiere, viewers will discover that the girls did their research on Chris – whether it was watching him try to win Andi’s heart or simply doing a Google search. A handful of the women will use their extra knowledge of the bachelor in order to form a connection before the first rose ceremony of the season. Viewers will have to tune in to see if the tactic works. Check out the women who confessed diarrhea as their “Biggest Date Fear” below:

Becca's Biggest Date Fear: "Having stomach issues and clogging up a toilet, a la 'Dumb and Dumber.'"

Brittany's Biggest Date Fear: "Gas or violent diarrhea."

Kelsey's Biggest Date Fear: "Diarrhea."

Tara's Biggest Date Fear: "A man who nervous-talks or won't shut up. Or me having bad gas during the date and he catches on to me."

Trina's Biggest Date Fear: "Eating something that gives me 'di-di.'"

"The Bachelor" Season 19 will premiere on ABC on Monday, Jan. 5, at 8 p.m. EST.
