A dispute over the cover fee at Drai’s nightclub in Bally’s Las Vegas spurred the early Monday morning shooting at the hotel that killed a casino patron and injured three others.

The Bally’s hotel shooting occurred around 5:45 a.m. Monday when the suspect demanded that his cover charge to Drai’s nightclub, an after-hours spot in the lower level of the hotel, be refunded, Las Vegas Metro Police Sgt. John Sheahan told Las Vegas television station 8 News Now.

The suspect got into an argument with the manager of Drai’s and shot the manager in the arm, Sheahan told the station. Two security guards then tried to subdue the suspect, but both of them were shot. A casino patron who tried to wrestle the gun from the suspect was shot and killed, according to 8 News Now.

“Typical good Samaritan killed while trying to help,” Sheahan said of the patron, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The gunman, who was not named in media reports, suffered a head injury and was hospitalized. Sheahan said the alleged shooter will be booked in absentia on murder and attempted murder charges.
