Bancrofts accept News Corp. bid for Dow Jones: report

The Bancroft family, whose shareholders control Dow Jones & Co. Inc., has accepted a $5 billion bid from News Corp. to buy the publisher of the Wall Street Journal, Reuters reported on Tuesday, citing a Dow Jones unit executive.

The Bancroft family has accepted, John Prestbo, editor and executive director of Dow Jones Indexes, told reporters on Tuesday in Chicago. Dow Jones will be part of News Corp, he said.

The information came from an internal memo, he told Reuters.
