Legendary singer, actress and filmmaker Barbra Streisand is writing a memoir, which she plans to release in 2017. The yet-untitled book will reveal previously unknown details of her professional and personal life.

Streisand, 73, has inked a deal with Viking Press to write the story of her successful life, the publisher announced Wednesday. Streisand shared the news on her social media accounts. Terms of the deal were not revealed.

"There are over 50 unauthorized biographies about Ms. Streisand that are full of myths and inaccuracies, and she is finally going to tell her own story," Viking President and Publisher Brian Tart said in a statement, according to Streisand's personal website.

The “Funny Girl” actress has long guarded her private life, so news of a memoir surprised her fans. “Can't wait to read this ... what an amazing life MS Streisand has had !!!!,” an Instagram user named misdew1 wrote. Other Streisand fans echoed similar sentiments.

This is the not the first time that Streisand will try her hand at writing. The artist, who was born in Brooklyn, New York, wrote "My Passion for Design" with the same publisher in 2010. The illustrated book described her Malibu, California, house from the perspective of a designer.

Streisand has not stopped singing. Her most recent album, “Partners,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard sales charts in 2014. Streisand has won two Oscars, five Emmys, and 10 Grammy awards.
