Things are about to get A LOT more complicated on “Bates Motel.”
Fans of the A&E “Psycho” prequel series watched last week as Dr. Gregg Edwards (Damon Gupton) discovered that Norman (Freddie Highmore) “turns into” his mother when he blacks out. It’s an important development in order for Norman to get the help he needs, but those that watched Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film know that all the drugs and therapy in the world are not going to change the troubled young man. That wasn’t even the biggest shocker of episode 5, though. Chick (Ryan Hurst) resurfaced looking to get revenge on Caleb (Kenny Johnson). Unfortunately, he ended up at Norma’s (Vera Farmiga) door and quickly figured out about her secret past relationship with her brother.
So, what comes next? The drama will continue in Season 4 with episode 6, titled “The Vault.”
According to the synopsis, Norman will uncover “painful truths as his therapy progresses.” He appears to realize that he has a problem. And he even recanted his accusation about his mother murdering people. But does Norman realize that he’s the cold-blooded killer?
Elsewhere, Norma will “work to prevent a secret from being revealed.” It’s pretty clear that the episode description is referring to her confrontation with Chick last week. He offered to keep her secret in exchange for information on Caleb’s whereabouts, but Norma promised that she didn’t know where her brother was. Is she desperate enough to keep Dylan’s (Max Thieriot) father’s true identity a secret? Caleb better watch out.
Finally, Romero (Nestor Carbonell) must risk his career to help someone. Could this person in need of assistance be his former hookup, Rebecca (Jaime Ray Newman)? With the authorities on her trail after figuring out that Bob Paris (Kevin Rahm) was laundering money, Rebecca is determined to clear the safety deposit box of its contents. The only problem is that she needs Bob’s key — and Romero is the one that has it after murdering the Arcanum Club leader.
“Bates Motel” Season 4, episode 6 will air on A&E on Monday, April 18 at 9 p.m. EDT. Watch the promo video below:
