Batman v. Superman
"Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" shared new footage from the fight between Superman (Henry Cavill) and Batman (Ben Affleck, not pictured) in a German-language TV trailer ahead of the film's March 25, 2016 release date. Warner Bros.

Although “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has dominated the news cycle all weekend, Warner Bros. and DC Comics have released a hype-worthy trailer for the upcoming film “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” However, the understated trailer was meant for German audiences, but has the benefit of containing some brand new footage of the bout between the iconic superheroes.

While there has been a handful of promotional footage released to tease the 2016 movie, it’s been surprisingly light on any action, opting instead to lay the stakes for the hero’s conflict through intense stares and the occasional one-liner. Now, with the release of the latest 31-second teaser, dubbed in German, fans get their first taste of what it looks like when the nearly indestructible alien from Krypton squares off with the billionaire vigilante.

The trailer kicks off with footage of Superman (Henry Cavill) that was previously shown in the first trailer for “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” The clips features the Man of Steel at some kind of government hearing. From there, the teaser presents small glimpses of footage that’s been previously seen with a bit more of the fight between Superman and Batman (Ben Affleck). As he flies headlong at his enemy, the Kryptonian hero gets hit by a seemingly endless stream of bullets from Batman’s very expensive-looking plane, which seems to have no lasting effect on his bulletproof body. In addition, the trailer also shows off Superman’s heat vision, as well as Batman’s heavily armored batsuit, as the he kicks his new nemesis through a rooftop. It looks like the very human Batman will have to rely on his technology in order to hold his own against the Kryptonian’s superpowers, which means fans can expect a lot of interesting gadgets to make their way into the fight between the perceived enemies.

As previously reported, Cavill revealed what sparks the fight between the two heroes from DC Comics, saying that the aftermath of the first movie in the film canon, “Man of Steel,” will have a direct impact on the characters. It seems that the utter destruction of Metropolis will take a personal toll on Bruce Wayne.

“What happens there is one of Bruce’s buildings gets destroyed and he’s trying to save all the people inside the building and he can’t,” the actor said (via ScreenRant). “So he is this angry person who fears what Superman may do. Why are they just going to trust this super powered alien? What if he does decide to turn against us?”

Unfortunately the German-language teaser doesn’t give any new plot details like the inclusion of the villain Doomsday that appeared in the latest English-language trailer. However, Forbes notes that some diehard fans of a particular comic parody will enjoy hearing Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) say the name “Die Fledermaus,” which is German for “The Bat.” Fans of the comedy series “The Tick” will recognize the German title as the Batman wannabe that was featured in the comic book and TV series.

To find out how the fight between the heroes plays out, fans will just have to wait until March 25, 2016 when the film hits theaters. Until then, they can check out the new German teaser below (via Comic Book Resource).
