Two of the most talked-about smartphones right now apart from the iPhone5 are Samsung's Galaxy S2 and the Motorola Droid Bionic. Both Android devices from Samsung and Motorola are offering quite blazing performance at the hand of dual-core processing power. But, there still could be a thing or two that would make you choose one over the other.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 is Samsung's flagship phone for 2011 and is the first Samsung phone to be powered by a dual-core processor. The Galaxy S2 runs Android version 2.3 (Gingerbread) and has an incredible 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen.
Galaxy S2 has sold a whopping three million units outside the U.S., beating the iPhone 4 and upstaging the rumored iPhone 5. The phone is already considered the best smartphone on the planet and is the most successful smartphone in the UK market.
Recently, Motorola Droid Bionic was spotted with a Best Buy Mobile promotional shot that is traversing the Web. The leaked promo described Droid Bionic to be a ferocious force and an unstoppable powerful device. But, the biggest question remains whether the smartphone will last even if it makes a splash in the beginning. If we consider HTC Thunderbolt 4G LTE smartphone, it was in fact outselling even Apple iPhone 4 for a while at Verizon.
Motorola Droid Bionic is a candy bar-style smartphone with support of modern 4G technology from Verizon LTE network. The phone seems to be strong and portable with Android 2.2 Froyo installed in it. It can be easily upgraded to 2.3 Gingerbread anytime. If the battery life clicks for Motorola Droid Bionic, then most probably Samsung Galaxy S2 will have very stiff competition from it.
Motorola Droid Bionic will only be featured in Verizon, but Samsung Galaxy S2 will be found in all the four major carriers in the US.
The release dates of both these smartphones are making customers wait on their heels. Motorola confirmed via Twitter that its much anticipated Verizon LTE phone will arrive this summer, while Samsung Galaxy S2 is expected to hit the US markets in the third quarter of 2011. However, the smartphone from Samsung may reach Canada before it will become available in the US market. This comes as Bell Canada has given an official confirmation about the device.
It looks like both devices have consumers waiting, but a survey conducted from April 1 to June 21 via multiple social networks showed 10,090 gave their opinions on Samsung Galaxy S2. Motorola Droid Bionic had much lower survey responses at 4,738 opinions.
