Bayern Munich have not ruled out the prospect of signing Erling Haaland, who is also being chased by other top European clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool FC.

Haaland, who moved from Red Bull Salzburg to Borussia Dortmund in the 2020 January transfer window, has been in terrific form since then, scoring 45 goals in as many as 46 matches, across all competitions. His latest strikes for the German club came in Dortmund’s 4-2 loss to Bayern Munich in Bundesliga.

The 20-year-old put Dortmund 1-0 up within two minutes from the kick-off at the Allianz Arena before making it 2-0 for the visitors at the ninth minute. Haaland’s 18th and 19th Bundesliga goals went in vain as the reigning champions eventually sealed the game 4-2.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick was asked about the possibility of Bayern signing Haaland, who is tipped to become one of the best in the soccer world.

Flick responded thus: "A lot is possible in life and you can't rule anything out. But it's future music and he has a long-term contract in Dortmund. He is a player who is certainly a possibility for many top clubs, who are also thinking about him. That's what makes him stand out, of course. As for the future, we all don't know. Things can move very, very quickly in football. That's why I'm not really worried about it."

Even though Dortmund and Bayern’s rivalry is not one of the oldest in European soccer, it sure has grown into an intense one over the years. Bayern have managed to hijack quite a few Dortmund players in the past with Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gotze and Mats Hummels among the notable ones.

Haaland, who started his senior career in 2016 with Norwegian club Bryne FK, has scored nearly 100 competitive goals and has provided 24 assists so far. During the 2020 January transfer window, Manchester United very keen on landing Haaland at Old Trafford. However, the young striker instead chose to move to Dortmund.

It is understood that Haaland’s compatriot Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is Manchester United’s manager, has not given up on the young player’s transfer yet. Haaland, who is contracted with Dortmund until 2024, has a release clause of $90 million.

It was earlier reported that Premier League champions Liverpool FC are seeing Haaland as a long-term replacement for their No. 9 Roberto Firmino.
