Belgian phone operator Belgacom's international carrier business said on Thursday it had signed a preliminary deal with Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) to enhance its system which enables mobile phone customers to transfer money from one mobile phone to another.

Belgacom's International Carrier Services (ICS) said customers would be able to transfer money at a more advantageous rate than with existing transfer agencies.

RBS's FXmicropay System would enable secure foreign exchange transaction processing with limited currency exposure, it added.

A Belgacom (ICS) spokeswoman declined to comment on the value of the deal.
