RTTNews - Friday, Belgium's National Institute of Statistics announced that the consumer price index or CPI dropped 0.78% year-on-year in August, compared to the 1.68% fall in the previous month. This was the fourth consecutive month of negative inflation. A year earlier, the inflation rate was 5.39%.

The CPI, excluding energy rose 1.56% in August, slower than the 1.60% in the previous month. But, prices of vegetables, fruits and traveling abroad decreased.

On a monthly basis, the CPI increased 0.31% in August.
