Bella Hadid stole the show and took Cannes Film Festival by storm when she stood on the famous steps and posed for the camera in a slinky red silk gown revealing the thigh-high split. The model wore the custom Alexandre Vauthier Couture gown at the premiere of “The Unknown Girl” during the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Bella for the first time opened up about wearing the red gown. “I’ve always wanted to wear a red dress, it’s just been my dream since I was a little girl. Ever since prom and freshman, it’s always been what I wanted to wear but I never could,” the 19-year-old model told in an interview with Glamour.

The younger sister of “It girl” Gigi Hadid was thankful that a gust of wind did not ruin her look. Taking about the risk she took in wearing the gown, Bella said for red carpets, she usually sticks to black. The in-demand model admitted of being scared about it, but was glad for the good feedback.

Bella said that for some time she would like to keep her red carpet appearances to the minimum so “that the paparazzi expect the unexpected” and also tone down her looks. She added that she would be likely to wear a variation of the gown, but that would be one of her “riskiest looks” in a while. Bella’s daring gown will reportedly go down in Cannes history as one of the most iconic gowns.

The model put on a daring display of skin in the racy number that showed off her cleavage, toned arms and legs. Bella’s gown is a custom creation from the designer’s haute couture Spring 2016 Look 34. The show-stopping gown featured a wrap-around detailing, spaghetti halterneck, bias cut, a slinky skirt with a long train and a thigh-baring split.

The bodice of the gown also featured a dangerously plunging neckline that left little to the imagination. The beauty accessorized with a pair of teardrop shaped earrings and a chunky diamond bracelet. She also wore a purple gemstone and diamond ring all by Swiss luxury jeweller De Grisogono. Bella paired her ensemble with black strappy sandals from Giuseppe Zanotti Design.

Bella, meanwhile, has landed her first Elle UK cover. The model has featured in the July issue of the magazine, rocking a denim jacket and cat eye shades.
