The betting public’s confidence in American Pharoah hasn’t wavered one bit, but the thoroughbreds contending to upend his attempt for the Triple Crown are still jostling for position with the 147th running of the Belmont Stakes less than two weeks away.

According to the latest odds from Sportsbook.ag, American Pharoah is holding steady up top at 10/11, a slight change from 20/21 last week.

Despite 13 previous Triple Crown threats coming and going since Affirmed last won it in 1978, the way the line has remained steady suggests bettors believe American Pharoah could actually end the decades long drought.

The three-year-old colt who slopped his way through the Preakness and edged out the competition by a little more than a length at the Kentucky Derby is trainer Bob Baffert’s fourth horse to vie for the elusive Triple Crown.

In his first workout since winning the Preakness by seven lengths, American Pharoah reportedly ran over four furlongs in 48 seconds at Churchill Downs on Tuesday.

"American Pharoah tells you what he can handle," Baffert said. "I'm monitoring him very closely. His energy and weight are very important. There are certain things I like to see in a horse."

Behind American Pharoah is Frosted, whose odds improved from 5/1 to 9/2, and trainer Todd Pletcher’s top duo of Materiality at 8/1 and Carpe Diem at 16/1. Neither of Pletcher’s contenders’ odds have deviated in any direction over the last week, but they continue to rest up after holding out of the Preakness.

Frosted skipped the Preakness too after coming in fourth at the Derby, but was only 3 1/4 lengths behind American Pharoah. Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin didn’t mince words about the Derby but still praised Frosted’s efforts.

"We ran good breaking from a wide post in an 18-horse field and going six-wide on the far turn, and we wish there were more pace," McLaughlin said to the Baltimore Sun last week. "He ran a great race, but we were a little disappointed; we wanted to win."

The Belmont takes place Saturday, June 6 in New York.
