Ben Affleck's father got candid about his son's alcohol addiction and split from Jennifer Garner.

The "Batman" actor's father, Timothy Affleck, spoke about his and brother Casey Affleck's success in the industry. According to Timothy, Hollywood has taken its toll on his sons.

"It has taken a toll on both my sons. Hollywood is a disgusting place. I think that's been a major factor in Ben's drinking. You're kind of forced to develop a persona that is hard to shed and go home to your family. It affects your whole life. I think that's one of the dangers of the film industry," Timothy told Grazia magazine (via Daily Mail).

Timothy also added that it was difficult for the "Justice League" star to find a balance between his family with Garner and his global stardom. "It's very difficult to balance family life in the midst of global stardom. It's a hard, taxing life," Timothy continued. "In the world outside of the entertainment industry, marriages end all the time. It's as common as dishwater, it's nothing to dither about."

While Timothy encouraged Affleck to not dwell on his failed marriage, he also commended the actor's effort in getting sober. According to him, the "Town" star has always wanted to control his drinking and balance his life.

"Ben has always been serious about getting sober. There is no question about that He wants a balanced life and he's working on it," Timothy said.

Back in March 2017, Affleck announced that he completed a treatment for alcohol addiction. Garner's ex announced it on Facebook to be an inspiration for those who are afraid to seek help from addiction.

"I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I've dealt with in the past and will continue to confront. I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be," Affleck wrote on Facebook. "I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step."
