After all the controversy surrounding the Academy Award nominations on Thursday, disappointed entertainment-lovers around the country will no doubt need a drink this weekend.

Thankfully, the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards show is arriving just in time. The potpourri awards ceremony, celebrating achievements in film and television, has become something of a minitradition for awards-season junkies looking for a predictive prelude to the Academy Awards.

With this year’s co-hosting team of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey on deck, Sunday’s Golden Globes telecast on NBC should be one of the funniest in recent years, but why take your chances? With the right Golden Globes drinking game, studies show you can triple your likelihood of actually enjoying the ceremony. Plus, there’s a good chance Ben Affleck and Kathryn Bigelow could get snubbed all over again, and who wants to see that sober?

IBTimes culled together some of the best Golden Globes drinking games on the Web. As always, please drink responsibly.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s Game

Let’s start with this drinking game straight from the co-hosts themselves. The “Saturday Night Live” alumni proposed the rules rather spontaneously during a Wednesday interview with the Hollywood Reporter. Like all great drinking games, it’s short and sweet, including instructions to drink any time someone cries, any time someone says “I didn’t prepare anything,” and any time someone thanks Harvey Weinstein. Why complicate things? Full Game.

The Frisky

From the lifestyle website The Frisky comes this offering for folks who like their drinking games a little more on the snarky side. Rules include drinking whenever Angelina Jolie has a “leg moment,” whenever Daniel Day-Lewis wears an “unfortunate hat,” and whenever Leo DiCaprio “looks bloated.” Be warned on this one: There’s also an instruction to drink every time Joaquin Phoenix looks like he doesn’t want to be there, so chances are this is going to be a high scorer. Full Game.

Next Movie

From the movie site that compares itself to “a rip-roaring explosion in a Michael Bay blockbuster” comes another general-interest drinking game. Rules include drinking if someone mentions Ricky Gervais, drinking if someone gets cut off by music, and drinking if someone has a wardrobe malfunction. Not the most imaginative instructions, but it’s sure to do the trick nonetheless. Full Game.

The Vivant

The fashion-and-culture website The Vivant has devised a drinking game that is as hilarious as it is extensive. If Zooey Deschanel shows up wearing bows, polka dots, ruffles, or hot pink, you’re in for a treat. Because let’s face it, she will. Other rules include drinking if Amy Poehler makes a pass at Bradley Cooper. That’s pretty much a given, too. This is a lengthy game that is sure to be another high scorer, so be warned. Full Game.
