On Oct. 4, BET will air the 2016 Hip Hop Awards. Honoring the best in hip-hop, the ceremony will include a number of awards, performances and the always popular cyphers. Before the awards air, here are seven things to know about the show.

1. DJ Khaled Is Hosting

Having DJ Khaled host your awards show is a major key. After an appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards, Khaled will be the host of the 2016 BET Hip Hop Awards.

2. The Awards Were Already Given Out

Following the 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards, BET began holding the awards on a separate date and airing them later. This year’s awards show was held on Sept. 17.

3. Drake Leads With 14 Nominations

For the third year in a row, Drake leads all other artists with a whopping 14 nominations. The closest to him this year is Future with 10 and DJ Khaled with nine.

4. Kevin Hart Will Battle Lil Wayne

Although the participants for the cyphers are unknown, we do know that Lil Wayne will faceoff against Kevin Hart’s alter-ego, Chocolate Droppa.

5. Performers Include Young Thug, Desiigner And Lil Yachty

The 2016 BET Hip-Hop Awards will have a mix of young and old when Desiigner, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, T.I., Gucci Mane and more take the stage to perform.

6. Snoop Dogg Will Get Honored

This year’s I Am Hip Hop Award will be given to Snoop Dogg. The west coast legend has been rapping since 1992 and is still putting out albums to this day.

7. Politics Will Play A Big Role In The Show

Without giving away too much information, many of the night’s performances will make references to police brutality. T.I. will take the stage with “Black Lives Matter” signs behind him, while rappers Big K.R.I.T. and Lecrae will recite poems.
