Better Call Saul
Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) gets closer to becoming Saul Goodman in Season 2 of "Better Call Saul." AMC

Well, if "Better Call Saul" fans had any doubt that Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) bailing on Kim's (Rhea Seehorn) job offer in the Season 1 finale would lead the disgruntled attorney on the path to becoming Saul Goodman, allow AMC to present some new evidence. The latest trailer for Season 2 of the "Breaking Bad" spinoff features an original song from the show's creators and the lyrics are not making any bones about Jimmy's fate.

The new promo, released Tuesday, gives viewers a sweeping tour of a sleazy, Mexican cantina. In one shot, the camera moves through a bar, revealing a variety of outlaw-looking characters, before finally landing on Jimmy. Jimmy appears to be hiding out, wearing a leather jacket and black hat pulled down low over his face, and he is ignoring his constantly ringing phone. What trouble has he gotten himself into now?

However, the most important part of the new promo is not what fans see, but what they hear. The teaser is set to a Mariachi tune performed by Mariachi Bandido with lyrics written by series creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. Though the words are in Spanish, the chorus is unmistakable — "Yo Soy Saul," or " I am Saul."

This is not the first time "Better Call Saul" has used an original song to drum up some excitement for a premiere. Before Season 1's debut, a music video featuring a tune titled "Better Call Saul" was released, detailing various sordid situations in which one would need to call upon the titular lawyer. The song was performed by country singer Junior Brown and the lyrics were again written by Gilligan and Gould.

As the Feb. 15 Season 2 premiere approaches, AMC has been pushing the show hard. Another promo, released a little less than a week before the musical teaser, provides a little more detail on the logistics of the Jimmy-Saul transformation. In the promo, Jimmy meets with Kim and explains why he turned down the gig at the big firm and takes another job from Mike (Jonathan Banks).
