Royal Baby Announcement

Kate Middleton may have finally given birth to a baby boy on Monday, but that doesn’t mean royal baby fever is over. Prince William and Kate Middleton have yet to give their child a name, and if you’ve got a good hunch, you might be able to make some money off it.

According to the Associated Press, British betting agency Ladbrokes has already taken more than 50,000 bets on the royal baby’s name since the Duchess of Cambridge went into labor on Sunday night. Currently, the agency’s best pick for the child's name is George. Irish agency Paddy Power offers a similar chance to bet on the baby’s name, right down to George as the first pick. James comes in second place for both agencies. In last place? Wayne with 250/1 odds.

The royal baby’s name isn’t the only thing you can bet on, either. Paddy Power is also taking bets on the royal baby’s first words, his university, his career, the name of his first girlfriend (or boyfriend) and several other increasingly bizarre scenarios. The site even offers a 25/1 payout if the as-yet-unnamed royal baby ever goes on to represent the United Kingdom in the Olympic Games. The most bizarre bet? A 500/1 payout if the royal baby’s first words are “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”

So far, little information about the royal baby has been revealed, except for the official announcement that was placed on an easel outside of Buckingham Palace. It read: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4:24p.m. The baby weighs 8lbs 6oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry & families have been told and are delighted. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight."
