Beyonce celebrated her first Mother's Day Sunday, and while it was surely a special day for the new mom and her baby daughter Blue Ivy, Beyonce didn't forget to show some love to the most important grown woman in her life - her mother Tina Knowles. On Sunday, Beyonce took to her newly-designed website to pen an open letter to her mom thanking her for being the best mother she could. Beyonce also penned a letter last month to Michelle Obama thanking her for being a good example to women.

Everything I am is because of you! Beyonce wrote in the letter. You are the first voice that ever sang to me. At every turn you push me to be better. You teach me to be true to myself and the ones I love. When I look into your eyes, I am sooo proud. Now that I'm a mother, I truly realize all the sacrifices you made for us. My love for you goes beyond what I can say. Happy Happy Mamas Day.

Love, Beyonce.

Beyonce gave birth to her first child, Blue Ivy Carter, with husband Jay-Z on January 7, 2012. Since welcoming Blue Ivy, Beyonce seems to be settling right into motherhood. She is often seen in New York City on outings with Blue Ivy and Jay-Z and never misses an opportunity to gush about her in interviews. In March Beyonce, Jay-Z and Blue took their first vacation together as a new family in St. Barths.

Beyonce's first Mother's Day was an extended family affair -- paparazzi snapped many of Jay-Z and Beyonce's family entering their Tribeca apartment. Earlier in the week, Beyonce's mom revealed to Us Weekly what some of the family's plans would be for the day.

[We're] all going to be together, Knowles told Us Weekly. We're excited because it's Beyonce's first Mother's Day. I'm hoping to cook! I want to cook my traditional soul food and maybe gumbo. That's my favorite dish!

Now that Mother's Day is over, Beyonce can continue to rehearse for her first concerts since giving birth to Blue Ivy. She will headline four shows in Atlantic City at the new resort and casino, Revel, Memorial Day weekend.
