American actress Gwyneth Paltrow, a close friend of new parents Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z, cleared up speculation on Monday, surrounding the couple's daughter. The actress, via a tweet, confirmed the child's name is Blue Ivy Carter... and not Ivy Blue Carter, as earlier reported.

Beyonce, an R&B singer, gave birth to the child on Saturday night, at New York City's Lenox Hill Hospital.

Paltrow tweeted: Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already.

One of her followers later asked for clarifications regarding the child's name, to which Paltrow replied, saying: It's Blue Ivy Carter!

Meanwhile, Beyonce's sister, Solange Knowles, tweeted that her niece was the most beautiful girl in the world.

It is believed the baby's name was inspired by her father's favorite color - Blue; her second name is meant to represent the Destiny of the child.

Blue Ivy was born after a C-section, amid claims her parents hired the entire fourth floor of the hospital, at a cost of £840,000. Apparently security was so tight that even the hospital staff were asked to hand in their mobile phones and security cameras were covered with tape, MTV reported.
