One of Hollywood’s former top bodyguards, Norman Oosterbroek, who protected the likes of Beyonce and Jay-Z, died after police used a Taser on him during a peculiar home invasion on Sept. 2, NBC 6 South Florida reported. While Oosterbroek, 43, was able to protect A-list stars, it appears he was unable to defend himself.
Apparently, Oosterbroek broke into the home of Christiane and Markus Jung in the middle of the night. Christiane Jung heard noises and when she went to check the source, she found a naked Oosterbroek. A confrontation between Oosterbroek and Markus Jung escalated into violence, which is when the former bodyguard supposedly swallowed an unknown substance.
They were fighting when police arrived, and after officers broke them up, Oosterbroek became aggressive with them. When police tried to take him into custody, he struggled, which is when he was shocked with a Taser to be subdued, the local television station reported.
Oosterbroek was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead. “It’s possible that he may have been under some type of a narcotics. Again, he was observed swallowing, ingesting some kind of substance, unknown substance that is,” Det. Javier Baez, a Miami-Dade Police Department representative, said of Oosterbroek’s untimely death.
But neighbors such as Julia Brinck were shocked by the story and said the series of events doesn’t make any sense. “I would like to know what really happened, because I don’t understand why a naked man is going inside a house and for what,” she said, according to the NBC affiliate.
Oosterbroek owned the security company RAD, which has provided protection for top celebrities such as Lady Gaga and Rihanna, Us Weekly said.
