‘Big Bang Theory’
Beverly (Christine Baranski) will reach out to Penny (Kaley Cuoco) in “Big Bang Theory” Season 11, episode 4. CBS

“Big Bang Theory” Season 11, episode 4 will see Leonard’s (Johnny Galecki) mom, Beverly (Christine Baranski), spending time with her husband, Penny (Kaley Cuoco).

In the teaser released by CBS for “The Explosion Implosion,” Penny receives a call from Beverly, who tells her that she needs to talk to someone because she doesn’t have a lot of girl friends. Penny is surprised to hear from her mother-in-law especially since Beverly has never called Leonard. The mother and son don’t necessarily have a close relationship with each other.

When Leonard finds out that Penny has been communicating with Beverly, he starts to become confused. In the sneak peek, Leonard asks Penny what the two of them have been talking about. He is isn’t also very pleased over the fact that Penny seems to be much closer to his mother than he is to her.

Elsewhere in the episode, Howard (Simon Helberg) will make a reference to his MIA father while he, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Raj (Kunnal Nayyar) are looking through his toys in the garage. Sheldon is shocked to find a Saturn V toy in Howard’s garage and asks how he got one. Howard tells him that his dad gave it to him before they abandoned him. Sheldon jokes about Howard being lucky since his dad left him very early on.

Last year, rumors started swirling that Howard’s dad will be introduced in “Big Bang Theory.” After all, the parents of the other characters have already been shown in the series. When Penny tied the knot, viewers had the chance to get to know her parents. In the same way that audiences met Leonard’s dad in Season 10.

Unfortunately, Howard’s dad still hasn’t been introduced. He and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) already tied the knot, and they are now expecting their second child. Howard’s mom also passed away last season, but his dad still didn’t show up.

But earlier this year, then-showrunner Steve Molaro said that there’s still hope Howard’s dad will be introduced in the near future. “That possibility is always floating around in the ether of the show. We don’t have immediate plans to tackle it, but I’m confident one day we will,” he told TV Line.

“Big Bang Theory” Season 11 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
