Jim Parsons will star in the upcoming movie “Hidden Figures,” which is slated for release on Christmas Day.

Ahead of its Jan. 6 release date, the “Big Bang Theory” actor shared a list of theaters fans can go to to see “Hidden Figures” on his Instagram account. In a follow-up post, the actor also uploaded a short teaser from the movie starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monae, Kevin Costner and more. In the film, Parsons will play the supporting role of Paul Stafford.

“Hidden Figures” chronicles the lives of three African-American women who are employed by NASA to solve complicated math problems and help an all-male team of engineers and scientists.

While speaking with Gold Derby, Costner admitted to not knowing the story behind “Hidden Figures” before he was cast. In the film, he plays the role of Al Harrison, the director of the Space Task Group. “I don’t know that I’m embarrassed or ashamed that I didn’t know this story existed. I think to myself, ‘Knothead, why didn’t you know?’ Of course, there were African-American people that contributed in so many ways to this country,” he said.

In one of the scenes, Al tries to stand up against gender bias and inequality. Talking about the crucial turning point, Costner said that he was pleased he was able to do something in the film that he would’ve also done in real life. “There’s a moment where we all want to tear some stuff down that’s holding people back. We all wish we were that heroic. I hope I am that way in my life,” he said.

Hidden Figures” also stars Kirsten Dunst, Aldis Hodge and Mahershala Ali. The film is slated to hit some theaters in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Baltimore Philadelphia and more on Dec. 25.
