Former U.S. President Bill Clinton has briefed on official from the White House’s National Security Council about his trip to North Korea where he met face to face meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, a White House spokesman said on Thursday.

Clinton visited North Korea earlier this week to secure the release of two journalists which had been convicted of illegally entering the country and sentence to 12 years of hard prison labor.

The ex-president formally debriefed an official Wednesday night, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said, according to Reuters.

He added that the White House is trying to coordinate schedules with President Barack Obama, who wants to meet with Clinton.

I suspect that President Clinton will have some interesting observations from his trip and I will let him provide those to me, Obama told MSNBC on Wednesday.
