The Company’s patented next-generation technology provides a unique comprehensive treatment of livestock waste that achieves substantial reductions in nitrogen and phosphorus, ammonia, greenhouse and other gases, as well as pathogens, hormones, herbicides and pesticides.
Bion provides their solutions to large-scale animal farming operations for integration of renewable energy production, ethanol production, animal husbandry, and organic soil/fertilizer and feed production. Their technology recovers renewable energy from the waste in a process that is much different from other technologies. Bion’s process extracts the cellulosic biomass to produce a combustible solid fuel that replaces the use of fossil fuels in enterprises’ integrated projects.
The Company’s Comprehensive Environmental Management System removes up to 95 percent of the nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus) in the wastewater effluent and substantially reduces air emissions, including ammonia (as great as 90 percent or more), greenhouse gases, hydrogen sulfide, VOC’s, and others. With air and water pollution from confined animal feeding operations reduced to low levels, high-density livestock operations can proceed on a scale large enough (50,000-plus head) to efficiently integrate them with biofuel/ethanol production.
Bion Integrated Agriculture Group will take advantage of Bion’s ability to substantially reduce both the environmental and physical footprint of livestock operations to develop new environmentally-sustainable large-scale facilities with substantial economic advantages over their traditional counterparts. Integrated Projects can undergo development in previously impracticable locations and will combine livestock/dairy production with dedicated food processing and/or biofuels production to dramatically reduce transportation and fuel costs.
With clean up of the waste streams of large-scale animal farming operations, Bion’s processes help with the integration farming activities. Their solutions allow agribusinesses to integrate their activities in a state-of-the-art facility, reducing transportation costs and maximizing market opportunities. These state-of-the-art facilities incorporate onsite production and use of co-products, including renewable energy produced from the livestock wastes, to replace the natural gas requirements of an enterprise. In January, Bion Environmental Technologies, Inc. announced that they initiated the flow of waste into the Bioreactor at their livestock waste treatment facility currently under construction at the Kreider Dairy Farm in Manheim, Pennsylvania. This milestone represents activation of the first major treatment step, with the remaining portions of the treatment system to be operational during this year’s second quarter.
