Activision Blizzard co-president Nick van Dyk is now resurrecting a previous rumor that a “Diablo” and “Overwatch” animated series are in the works, centering on two separate speculations that reaches back to 2018.

It's safe to say that fans can still vividly remember when, in a September 2018 article by Uber Gizmo, Boom! Studios Founder Andrew Cosby tweeted – and deleted – that he's in the “final talks” in writing a “Diablo” animated series for Netflix.

At the same time, Blizzard community manager Brandy Camel openly said that they have “multiple” projects that concerned “Diablo.” At this point, rumors began to bubble that an animated series was a part of their plan.

While it mellowed down and gave way to other “Diablo” related facts like the announcement of “Diablo IV” and the rise of “Diblo III,” it was only recently that van Dyk edited his LinkedIn profile and added a new role as “executive producer of Diablo, a TV adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment's IP.”

He went on by saying that the supposed “Diablo” series is now in pre-production and will be rendered in anime style, just like Netflix's “Castlevania.”

On the other hand, van Dyk also teased fans of “Overwatch” by exposing that he, together with his creative partner, have “developed and sold an animated series based on Blizzard's Overwatch franchise.”

But van Dyk only teased us so much. Although he didn't mention when the “Diablo” and “Overwatch” series would come out and to whom did he sold the latter to, there will always be room for fans to anticipate every news that comes their way when it comes to both shows.
