Many customers would still prefer discounts over free gift cards, while some others are expected to welcome the new gift card scheme. Reuters

As part of Black Friday’s one-day shopping event, Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) online stores in many European countries are offering discounted prices for a number of products, while several other countries, including the U.S., Australia and New Zealand, are getting bonus gift cards from the company, in place of discounts.

A report from MacRumors suggests while some buyers may be pleased with the prospect of a free gift card, most would prefer a straight discount on Apple's products.
