Black Friday is usually the best day to stock up on digital storage space. While it’s tempting to forego a larger hard drive and rely on cloud storage, having a couple terabytes of storage space can be quite useful for backing up loads of data, storing movies, making room for more games and more.

IBTimes takes a look at the deep discounts being offered on hard drives (HDDs), solid-state drives (SSDs) and other storage media at Amazon, Newegg, Best Buy and Walmart.

Amazon
The online marketplace Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) has among the most heavily discounted hard drives for Black Friday, both internal and external. External hard drives, in particular, are discounted at 40 percent. Grab a Toshiba (TYO:6502) Canvio 1TB USB 3.0 for only $59.99 if you’re looking for portability. If you’re looking for even more space but don’t need the mobility, the Seagate (NASDAQ:STX) USB 3.0 desktop external hard drive packs 3TB of data at $99.99.

However, you may be looking to switch over to a solid-state drive which trades large hard drive space for blazing fast read and write times. Many computer users have breathed new life into their older notebooks and desktops after installing these.

Among the best bargains is the Intel 530 Series 240GB 2.5in internal SSD, for only $159.99, a huge $130 savings.

For the even more frugal, pair an internal hard drive such as the $63.99 Western Digital (NASDAQ:WDC) Blue 1TB Serial ATA (SATA) 7200 RPM HD, with a hard drive dock that ranges from $20-$40.

Newegg
Along with Amazon, Newegg has been offering Black Friday deals all week. For computer owners craving speed, Newegg has great deals for SSDs. Grab a Seagate 600 Series 240GB MLC Internal SSD for only $129.99. Those looking for the latest Western Digital (WD) Black2 internal hard drive that combines a 1TB HD with a 120GB SSD can grab it for $40 off at $299.99, from Newegg.

Among the cheapest external drives is the Seagate Backup Plus 4TB desktop drive for $169.99, which gets even cheaper with a $30 promo code that's valid until Dec. 1.

Best Buy
If you’re shopping at Best Buy (NYSE:BBY) on Black Friday, there’s only a handful of hard drive deals to choose from. While they’re not the best deals overall, you can pick up a WD My Passport 2TB external USB 3.0 portable hard drive for $99.99 or a Toshiba 500GB external USB 3.0 portable HDD for $39.99.

Bonus: Though it's not hard drive, the PNY Attache3 128GB USB 2.0 flash drive is a steal at $49.99.

Walmart
Walmart (NYSE:WMT) is among stores opening early on Thanksgiving Day. If you’re brave enough to join the fray at the superstore, you may be able to score a great deal on the Toshiba 1TB USB 3.0 portable external hard drive for $54. Grab a PNY Mini Attache 8GB USB 2.0 flash drive along with the HDD for only $4.97.

While some hard drive deals are available on Black Friday at big box retailers, as seen above, your best chance to score the best deal on digital storage space is online.

However you choose to shop, the options above are just a taste of the plethora of deals available from retailers all over the U.S. Happy shopping.
