Here is an easy workaround that allows users to bypass the waiting list for BBM and start using the app on iPhone and Android immediately. Reuters

BlackBerry’s (NASDAQ:BBRY) much-awaited BBM messenger was finally released by the company for both iOS and Android on Monday, almost a month after the original release date for the instant messaging service was announced, and subsequently delayed due to a leaked version of the app.

Users can download the free BBM app for their devices from Google’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Play Store, Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) App Store and from select Samsung App Stores, while about six million people are claimed to have signed up for information on BBM.com, according to an official blog post.

However, there is a catch as BlackBerry has said that only those iOS and Android device users who had registered on the company website earlier to be notified of BBM’s release can use the app immediately after installation. Other users, who have not signed up yet, will have to wait for an unspecified period of time to use the service.

According to BlackBerry, the reservation system is employed to “ensure a smooth roll out” of the app. Upon installing and launching the app, users will need to enter their email address in order to hold their spot in line.

“We will email you as soon as you reach the front of the line and can start using BBM,” the company said.

However, CNET claims to have figured out a workaround, which allows users to bypass the waiting list that BlackBerry has imposed and begin using the new BBM app right away on their iPhone and Android devices.

Here is how to perform the trick:

Step 1: Download BBM for iPhone or Android.

Step 2: Launch the app, enter your e-mail address and tap on “Next.”

Step 3: Now, force close the BBM app on your device.

iPhone users can do this by double-tapping the home button and swiping the app away from the multitasking screen. On Android devices, users can do this by navigating to Settings > Apps > BBM and tapping on Force Close.

Step 4: Launch the app again, and you should now be allowed to create a new BlackBerry account. After you create an account, you will receive a unique PIN that will allow you to start using BBM.

Although the method has been tested, users should keep in mind that BlackBerry may patch the loophole at any time.
