Blacklist
Red (James Spader) returns in the midseason premiere of "The Blacklist" Season 2 following the Super Bowl on Feb. 1. NBC

Fans of “The Blacklist” have a lot to look forward to in the second half of the season. When the NBC show returns after the Super Bowl on Feb. 1, the new episodes will feature some big changes. After the show's post-Super Bowl return "The Blacklist" will shift to Thursday nights at 9 p.m. EST starting on Feb. 5. The midseason premiere will also introduce a new villain, played by “Sons of Anarchy” star Ron Perlman, while the new episodes will renew an old question – how are Red (James Spader) and Liz (Megan Boone) connected? Now fans have got their first glimpse at the coming episodes in a new promo for the midseason return.

The promo shows Red in a scene from Season 2, episode 7, in November. He leaves a captured enemy, the Scimitar (Waleed Zuaiter), for Mossad operative Samar Navabi (Mozhan Marno) to claim revenge for her brother’s murder. Red sarcastically quips, “don’t do anything I wouldn’t do” – basically a license to kill from the criminal mastermind.

The other tidbit from the promo was new and even more titillating for fans. The shot showed Red strung up in chains. Fans already know that he will be kidnapped in the midseason premiere while trying to get closer to his new foe (Perlman). Is the shot from the promo a sneak peek at his capture?

Fans will have to wait to find out how Red will deal with his kidnapping in the premiere. “The Blacklist” returns after the Super Bowl on Feb. 1 on NBC.
