The Blacklist
Liz (Megan Boone, pictured) gets separated from Red (James Spader, not pictured) in episode 8 of "The Blacklist" Season 3. NBC

There is only one episode left before NBC's "The Blacklist" takes the winter off and the fall finale is gearing up to be a blockbuster. Red (James Spader) has spent the entirety of Season 3 moving pieces around in the chess match between he and Liz (Megan Boone) and the Cabal, but it all comes down to episode 8, "Kings of the Highway," as Red puts his master plan into action.

According to the synopsis for the episode, Liz and Red are separated after Red finds himself stuck in a dangerous situation. Could that situation have anything to do with that mysterious meeting he set up in episode 7? Red had the FBI tracking down an infamous Iranian assassin, Zal Bin Hasaan (Sammy Sheik), to use as a bargaining chip in a deal to further his plan to take down the Cabal.

But what about Liz? The former FBI agent has sometimes taken a back seat this season, even as much of the action has revolved around trying to clear her name of murder, but she will take center stage in the fall finale. After getting separated from Red she will be in danger and it will be episode 7's star, Samar (Mozhan Marno), who comes to the rescue. The synopsis reveals that she will make a very risky decision to help Liz stay alive.

Plus, the promo reveals that Samar's helping Liz might be point of contention between new-lovers Samar and Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff). After their hot hookup in episode 7, the couple seem to hitting a rough patch in the promo for the fall finale.

"You're protecting her," Ressler accuses.

"If we bring Liz in, she will die," Samar retorts.

The promo also shows Ressler in the middle of a foot chase after Liz in the woods. When it really comes down to it, will he actually arrest her?
