Blake Shelton slammed reports that claimed he cheated on his former wife Miranda Lambert with country singer Cady Groves. His lawyers have now reportedly threatened to sue the In Touch magazine and demanded the story on the affair of “The Voice” coach be retracted.

The lawyers of 39-year-old Shelton sent a letter to the magazine, stating that Groves, who was cited in the In Touch story, was "infatuated" with Shelton. The letter also said that any insinuation from Groves should be treated as false claim.

"Mr. Shelton did not have a sexual relationship or affair of any nature whatsoever with Ms. Groves," the letter said, according to TMZ. Cheating rumors about Shelton and Lambert have been doing the rounds after they publicly announced their divorce last month. However, the two did not cite infidelity as a reason for their split.

In Touch magazine reportedly responded to the letter from Shelton’s attorneys, stating: “Not only does In Touch magazine stand by its story but we have another exclusive about Blake and Miranda's divorce in this week's issue.”

Groves has spoken about Shelton but stopped short of denying that the two had an affair. She earlier told In Touch magazine, according to Radar Online: “Their (Shelton and Lambert’s) marriage was over a long time ago,” adding: “If people knew what really happened, the world would explode.”

Radar Online reported that Groves and Shelton allegedly started their affair three months after the latter married Lambert. Although Groves did not deny the affair, she defended herself against claims that she was behind the couple's divorce.

“This is too much, I’m going to have a nervous breakdown,” Groves told In Touch magazine, adding: “Blake and Miranda are letting me take all the bullets. It’s wrong.”

Shelton also reportedly hired a detective last month to find out if the "Over You" singer cheated on him. The detective reportedly said that Lambert was dating one of her employees behind his back. Shelton then secretly flew to one of her concerts, “caught her hugging this man, and they were forced to admit everything. It was obvious what was going on,” a source reportedly told Star magazine.

“He can’t believe he spent all this time with a cheater who was never faithful to him. He’s heartbroken and furious and wants nothing to do with Miranda,” the source said, adding: “As far as he’s concerned, this whole marriage was a mistake.”

Lambert and Shelton started seeing each other in 2005 and married in 2011. They announced their divorce late July. “It is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately,” two said in a statement, adding: “We are real people, with real lived, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
